Highlight documents based on custom column contents

Greetings,

We are setting up a SP site for managing agreement documents. Some types of agreements have expiration dates, for which there is a custom column in the directory. On the home page, we would like to have those documents highlighted if the expiration date is less than six months away. Thus, neither 'begins with', 'equals', '!equals', nor 'contains' do the trick.

I'm not fluent in SP or queries. Please let me know if this enquiry is lacking in details.
