Handling duplicate files in a Sharpoint library

Hi,

I need some help regarding an issue I have in Sharepoint library. We have several libraries containing files (Word, Excel, PDF, PPT).

Once these are in Approved status they are moved to a library called "Published". The problem occurs when the file has the same name in 2 (or more) libraries and are copied to "Published" library. Right now it is renaming with a suffix number after the name, but this is not ideal. Is it possible to have the same name on both (or several) files if the metadata is different?

    TrondGundersen​ Unfortunately you can't have two files with the same name in the same level in a Document Library even if the metadata is different. The only way would be to use folders to separate your files so they could have the same name.

    • Filename.docx

    Folder 2

    • Filename.docx
