Get selected element from list via Javascript

Hello everyone,

I'm currently trying to define a custom action for a sharepoint list, that copies the selected element(s) to another list. 

I managed to insert the custom action in the ribbon bar, but it doesn't do anything yet.

I need help with my javascript. 

How do I perform any actions for only the currently selected items in the list?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
