Functionality of InfoPath and SharePoint Designer-Created SharePoint Content After 2026
What will will happen to existing forms and workflows created with InfoPath and SharePoint Designer when they go completely out of service in 2026? Will everything created with them still work the same? Or will the mechanisms that once existed that allowed these to work slowly be phased out by then? When considering whether or not my company should invest in the time and energy it will take to move everything to a Modern site, if we will still be able to maintain the functionality we have for some time. I suppose I am looking for more information on what, if anything, not switching from InfoPath and SharePoint Designer will do to our user experience and/or why people recommend switching sooner than later—versus switching to Modern sites (We are using the Classic experience right now), and . I want to be able to present the most well-rounded information to my staff. I've done some digging myself, definitely, but I'm thinking people here might have even more poignant/focused positions on the subject. Who better to know our products and the benefits of transitioning them to newer technologies than those of us who work with them every day, right? That's my thought, anyway. (We are on SharePoint Online, btw.)
Thank you, in advance.

Depending on your requirements, the Formotus service may be able to offer you a seamless migration path for your InfoPath forms. Adriana Neagu retired from Microsoft in 2005 to found Formotus. Adriana was one of the co-inventors of InfoPath, and she saw the need for a tool for citizen developers to create mobile forms. The Formotus service will allow you to upload your InfoPath forms into your Formotus account, and convert them into a rich-client, mobile forms that will run on any Android, iOS and Windows 10 device. Formotus forms work out-of-the-box with any flavor of SharePoint. Formotus forms offer a client-side workflow feature that complements SharePoint workflows. The Formotus service is hosted on Microsoft Azure. The Formotus service is an enterprise-grade SaaS offering that supports federated authentication; an innovative licensing model; and security enforcement (e.g. mandatory user-password reset).

Well it is still 8 years ahead and as it was already in 2014 that there were rumours of removing Infopath. I think after these 8 years you will not be able to use infopath anymore. If you ask me today i would not even start with Infopath or SharePoint Designer. And go for Powerapps and flows. If you already have it in your system. I think in the 8 years to come some things may change so that is a good time to move away from Infopath and SharePoint Designer.
