expiring sharinglinks

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a solution to set shareing-links (documents, lists, whatever) to expire after a certain time. I know there is a setting configuration in the SharePoint-AdminCenter, but only in combination with anonymous access.

If you configure the sharing policy to allow anonymous access, then you can set an Option that the link will expire after a certain time e.g. 30 Days.

But now I need a solution without open to anonymous people in combination with a period of time that I can specify when the link becomes invalid. I need more security for the sharing link itself and additional the possibility that the user can specify that the link will become invalid after a period of time.  Does anyone have a clue if there is a feature, a setting, a license that I can use to achieve this requirement?

  • Hello AndreRadtke

this will be coming in next month:

Coming soon: When you share a link in Microsoft 365, Set expiration date will let users set a date for a link to expire. After a user sets a date and the link expires, the link won't work, and the user will need to make a new link or reshare with people so they can continue to access the file. Before the rollout, users can only set the expiration for links for Anyone. With this rollout, users can also set an expiration on for links for People in your organization and People you choose.

    Best, Dave
