Editing webparts taller than screen height in SPO (Classic View)

When trying to edit webparts(when complete height not in screen) on the right column(classic view) trying to open the webpart menu causes jumps on the page. After the jump, the webpart is shown completely on the screen and now opening the webpart menu works. However, if the wepart is longer than the screen height, this is impossible as it keeps jumping trying to fit the webpart in the viewport. The webpart however is selected so you can use the webpart menu in the ribbon to edit the webpart.

However, end user find this annoying as they find it much more comfortable opening using the webpart context menu.

Tried this on multiple tenants with the same results. Would love to hear some experiences/workarounds from other people who might be experiencing the same.

  • I experience the same inconvenient jumping - what I have observed is that if I check the checkbox first and then do a slow click on the context menu, it usually works :)

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I can check and uncheck the checkbox but nothing beyond it. The checkbox should also check when you click the webpart title, in this case that causes a jump too. And after a few tries to open the context menu, I stop seeing the little arrow image by the checkbox. Then it is only your pointer type indicating if you are clicking the right place.
