Edit "search results" web part gives "SOMETHING WENT WRONG"

In my online SharePoint tenant I want to add a (standard) "search results" web part. So far, so good. However when I click "Edit web part" I get a "Something went wrong" message and a correlation id ...

I just openend an incident for our tenant. I have the same issue.

    Did you have some feedback from Microsoft. Or haven't you made an incident?

      Yap, I talked to a support engineer. He suspected a backend issue and he needed some time to sort it out.

        Just received a Phone call. the engineer confirms that it is a global issue.
