Document Library version in Word Document

I have a SharePoint Online Document Library, with "Create major and minor (draft) versions" turned on. I would like to use the auto generated version number within a work document in the library however cannot seem to find how to get this working in SharePoint Online.

I have found a few examples online but can't seem to find one specific to SharePoint Online, so the setting required "Information Managment Policy Settings" is not available in my Library.

Any help or direction would be appreciated. Thank-you.
