Document Library Sync Causing File Editing Issues
It was my understanding that the updated OneDrive engine now works well with SharePoint document libraries as well.
Looks nice in File Explorer.
However, I am having issues using the document library that is synched. The same issues I had with the previous version.
1. After Editing a document in the library get the "This file is read only" error, which it is not. (doesn't say read-only nor should it be based on how I accessed it, no "edit" alert bar) All types of Office files (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Nothing nutty like Project or Visio. ;)
2. Upload errors despite the upload being successful
Generally the editing and saving of files in the document library is a miserable and unpredictable experience. I think it's miserable becuase it's unpredictable.
I am wondering if others have seen this issue. I can turn sync on and off and the issue is reproduceable (albiet intermittent).
Am I mistaken that the new sync client is ready for prime time for syncing document libraries?
Thanks,
eZe

Hello Eric - I couldn't agree more! I literally spent several hours over the last two weeks troubleshooting a SharePoint check-in/out issue on a workstation. Posted about it earlier today but since deleted because I just figured out the "cause" - now just need to know the "why"!
Sounds similar to you....most libraries configured for check-out...so the user goes through the usual steps to work with the docs. Then one day the check-out stops functioning properly - can check-out but document only in read-only mode. Does changes...closes file to only be prompted to save a copy of the file.
Discovered that this issue is only occuring on libraries that she has synced locally - we're also on latest OneDrive client.
I was able to repeat on a few different workstations - finally - mystery solved! Well sort of! So stopped all local syncing and check-out functioning properly again - well so far!
I'll open ticket with MS via O365 Admin and see if any guidance.....and I'll keep searching! Most frustrating....if I find a fix I'll post back here!
Cheers!
