Custom Power App Form with Sharepoint NOT opening on the side panel

Hi

I saw many tutorial for this but in the tutorial the app open in the same Sharepoint page on the side panel.

BUT when I click on "Detail" then "Edit All" it opens it in another browser and the sizing is really off.

I checked EVERY setting and can't see what I need to change.

Anyone knows?  Please help.

Thanks for the reply.  I was able to confirm with Microsoft.  Only list works as expected.  Document library does not.

    Hi PaulineN1525

Hi! Based on the screenshots you shared, it looks like you're using the default SharePoint form — not a Power Apps customized form.

Regarding your issue: when you click on “Details” and then “Edit all,” the form normally opens in the right-hand panel. However, SharePoint may force it to open in a new tab under certain conditions, such as:

    - Small screen resolution or high browser zoom
    - Custom browser settings or installed extensions
    - Using a different browser (e.g., Chrome or Safari instead of Edge)

    Try the following:
    1. Zoom out (`Ctrl + -`) and make sure the window is maximized.
    2. Open the site in **Microsoft Edge (InPrivate mode)** to rule out extensions or cache issues.
    3. Make sure you're on the **modern experience**, not classic.

Let us know if any of that helps!

  • Adjust the display mode of the Power Apps form to Pane and check the SharePoint permissions.
