Content Type and Permissions
Hi,
I have an issue with my site collection where I have created a document content type at the root level of the site. I have then created a subsite where I am creating another content with the parent being from the root site. Everything is OK but I would like to have unique workflows for the subsite content type using the Information Management Policy.
Unfortunately the owners of the subsite cannot access this page is they get a permission denied error. If I add the user to the owner group of the root site then it all works.
How can i have autonomous sub sites with their own content types but the parent content type being hosted on the root site.

- DeletedBest practice is no longer to use sub sites. Is there a reason to having sub sites vs. just having separate document libraries?

Hi Deleted Thanks for response.
The reason for the subsites is that the site collection is going to be used for Contract management and we would like all contracts to have the same metadata values + custom one for each business unit. Each business unit may also have multiple document libraries and bespoke permissions which we wanted the site owners to manage in their "own area".
