Communication Site top navigation permissions

Hi all, question time.
I'm preparing a demo to show new communication sites to a customer, and all works as expected. I'm trying to set up the security on top navigation menu, but i've two problems.
First, there's no link at AreaNavigationSettings.aspx page in Site Administration, but i can access without any problem by copy&paste the url.
Here, I find the menu manually created with the in-page editor, but when I try to save modifications on structured navigation audience, them don't work.

So the questions is: How can I set up permissions on communication site top navigation menu?

Thanks a lot,
Michele

  • The ability to audience/permission target menu items hasn't worked in modern sites at all to date.

I haven't heard if it is something they will be adding back in, we used audience targeted navigation links quite often, and would be a necessary feature in my opinion

Hi, that's correct, my fault: the root site we're permissions work is a publishing site with modern pages, not a modern site.

So, at the moment, no chance to get segregation on menu items?

Well, as Brent has said, Communication Sites seem not to be ready for the demo / scenario you have in place
