You could use domain sharing restriction at site collection level, down side is that it will not be automatically applied based on site template, you will need to apply this setting per site that will require it.

are communication site are in different site collections as team sites?

Marc Mönnikes I'm not sure of what you mean but each communication site and modern team site is an independent site collection. Every occurrence of site you see in the modern SharePoint admin center is technically a dedicated site collection.

Hello,
sorry, settings for domain restrictions on specific site collection seems only available with powershell. Not in the Web Admin center (new or old sharepoint online management web interface).
I have only found global settings there.
But with set-sposite / get-sposite the setting seems to be avalable
