Cannot change column type
Greetings,
I am receiving this error when trying to change a column type number to single line text:
"the type of this column cannot be changed because it is currently being indexed"
Any idea?
I encountered the same issue and fixed it by following these steps:
- Disable the "Enforce Unique Values" option on the column.
- Remove the column index.
- Change the column type to the desired type.
- Re-enable the ‘Enforce Unique Values’ option.
kareemshamel Is this the custom column you created in list?
You can find the indexed columns on list settings page under Columns section with heading: Indexed columns.
Remove indexing on the number column & then try changing the column type.

kareemshamel When are you getting this error? While deleting indexed column or changing the column type?

kareemshamel Any updates on the following. I am receiving the same error. The index never deletes it just keeps spinning, as if its in progress.
