Cannot add web part

Good morning. I am having a recurring issue that just started today. Intermittently, I cannot add web parts. When I click to add a new web part, nothing happens. The web parts window just stay open and the part is not added. If I log out and back in, I am able to add web parts, but after a few minutes, the same thing happens and I have to log out and back in to continue to edit my page. Needless to say this is extremely frustrating and is slowing me down bigtime. Is anyone else experiencing this, or know what is causing it?

Still experiencing a similar problem for a while now, where it seems like the add-button for webparts on SharePoint-sites becomes deactivated out of the blue. This applies for new pages, news etc.. Another workaround that I've found is that if I delete my browsercache, cookies etc. and refresh the pages, the webparts-button becomes active again.

Is there a fix for this? I am experiencing this on Sharepoint 365 as well. Our internal IT seems impotent to investigate.

sportsfanatic Not very elegant, but signing completely out of SP and 365, re-booting the machine seems to make it start working again for a while, but the problem will come back from time to time.

CW_213 BINGO! I like me a good workaround. I don't mind logging in and out 100 times if I can just edit the dang site. thanks much for the reply.

We experience the same problems. Only as a workaround do we reduce and enlarge the screen together with some shifting of the image to get to the buttons. Not really useful.

Additional info: we did some research into the handling of the (custom) master page. And it seems that the css-code we use is the trigger of this behaviour.
      What exactly is under investigation.
