Bypass the File Previewer in Modern Document Library
Hello Community,
When click the filename in Modern Library, SharePoint will open this document in a previewer first and then you'll have options to choose either openning this file in browser/Office Online or locally such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and etc.
Is there a way that we can setup document library to bypass the previewer and open a file directly in browser or locally?

This is actually a *show stopper* issue for us. I upgraded our tenant this week but it looks like I will need to roll back because of this. Is there any update?

What do you mean by upgrading and rolling back your tenant?
MS controls that process and we don't have any ability to roll back.
- Adrienne KiddBrass ContributorYes we do. It is our choice to be in classic experience or 'new experience'. Rolling back to classic (simple setting change) makes the PDF viewing experience better.

Seriously!? I understand this behaviour may be not intuitive on first sight but "show stopper"? Wow.

Hello Juan,
Thank you for your reply. It would be great if Microsoft can have this feature down to the road. For users that are not so tech forward, it's not very intuitive for them to find that "Open" option on the command bar
Thought I can share this additional finding - When inserting a document library (using the Modern Document Libarary webpart) on a modern page, it doese bypass the previewer and open file directly.

There are a lot of thread about this and I hope Microsoft is doing something to make this better and listen to the users voice.
