Adding Tiles Within a Document Library

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to edit an existing document library so that I can add a tile/link to another document library above existing documents. I've seen an example and can see that it's possible but I can't figure out how to do it. I know how to do this creating a new page, but the margins have the web parts centered and compacted/condensed which is not exactly what I'm looking for. Would anyone be able to provide guidance on this? I'm sure this is probably straightforward or the way to do it is probably right in front of me but I'm not having any luck. I'd greatly appreciate some guidance on this.

I can also provide more details if needed. Thank you.

  • Ah! I see now, that is just a case of using the "Pin to Top" function. So you will still have to create the .URL but once you create it, just select Pin to Top and youll get your tile!

Hi MN037  i'm wondering if you happen to have a screen shot of said example.

As far as I know, you cannot directly add a tile like Quick Links or Hero tiles inside a document library itself. At least out of the box, really the only way you'd be able to do this is using SPFx and creating a custom layout.

However, I have built something previously where you can have a button in one of the columns but I don't think thats what youre looking for. If you could find a screenshot of the document library you've seen that would help in pinpointing the solution, thanks!

Hi DChenIT, thank you so much for the reply.

Yes, I do have a screenshot. It's redacted a bit but hopefully it will help give an idea. Understood on what you mentioned as well. I felt like that was the case after trying everything that I could think of besides using web parts. That may end up being what we have to use but I wanted to see if there was a way to achieve like in the screenshot.
