Add button disappearing from news web part

Hi there,

Since yesterday the add button has disappeared from the news web parts on the Sharepoint I manage. I have full control rights, and still have it, but nobody else does, regardless of permissions. It's not just that the button is grayed out, it's simply gone.

Does anyone know if:

a) there is a general problem with the add button?

b) if somehow permissions can interfere with the presence of the add button?

I have tested in Safari, Chrome, Edge.

I have tried to give someone else full rights too. It didn't make a difference.

Thanks to anyone who can help with this!

Cheers, Jacob

jaco1621 / Benjamin370, it seems the 'See more' button is only displayed now for the options 'List', 'Side-by-side', 'Carousel' en 'Tiles' in SharePoint News web parts.

jaco1621 You recently noticed that the "Add" button has disappeared from the News web part in the SharePoint Online environment you manage. This issue seems to affect all users except those with full control permissions, regardless of the browser being used or additional permissions granted. To address this concern, I will first verify if there are any known issues or recent updates from Microsoft that could have caused this change in behavior.

I will monitor the Microsoft 365 message center and relevant support channels for any official communication or acknowledgment regarding modifications to the News web part functionality. Nxt, I will thoroughly review the permission levels for the affected users to ensure they have the necessary rights to add news items. Even though you have already tried granting full control permissions, I will double-check the specific permission settings to rule out any potential oversights or misconfigurations. If the issue persists after confirming permissions, I will explore alternative methods for adding news items within your SharePoint environment. This could include using the SharePoint News feature directly, creating news items in a dedicated site or library, or investigating third-party tools or custom solutions that can provide a workaround.

Simultaneously, I will communicate with the affected users to gather feedback on the impact of this change and understand their specific use cases and workflows. This feedback will be invaluable in determining the severity of the issue and the urgency with which a resolution needs to be implemented. Should this change significantly disrupt your organization's operations or user experience, I will prepare a detailed report outlining the issue, its impact, and any potential workarounds implemented.

This report will be submitted to Microsoft through appropriate channels, such as UserVoice or Microsoft Support, requesting clarification or a potential reversal of this behavior in future updates. Throughout this process, I will maintain open communication with you and the affected users, providing regular updates on the progress and any interim solutions or recommendations. My goal is to ensure a seamless user experience within the SharePoint environment while minimizing disruptions to your organization's workflows and productivity.
