Show Sprints on Gantt Chart
Hello,
I use MS Project Desktop. I have activated agile features (each task is in a sprint).
Still, I find that the Gantt view is useful.
Can't we show sprints in the gantt view? For example, have a different background color for the 2 weeks of a given sprint.
Also, If a task is in sprint 5 but its dates are NOT in sprint 5 dates, can we have a warning displayed? (or even better, can the task change date when it is assigned a sprint?)
Thank you

To get the coordination set up between your sprints and the Gantt Chart view, you would need to set the Start date of the project to match the Start date of the first sprint. Assuming that each sprint is 2 weeks in length, in the Gantt Chart view, you would need to enter a Duration of 10d for each sprint. And you would also need to link the sprint tasks with a Finish to Start dependency. Doing so would help to make sure that the schedule in the Gantt Chart view matches the schedule of each spring. In the Gantt Chart view, you can also double-click the Gantt bar for each task and set the color so that it matches the sprint colors you are using.
By the way, you have just pointed out one of the flaws with how Agile methodologies have been integrated into Microsoft Project. Believe me, what you are expecting is what I expected when this was introduced into Microsoft Project. Hope this helps. - RatanPushpCopper Contributor
With the use of Group by "Sprint" option in View tab, the sprint task will be visible in Gantt Chart.
Whereas, to highlight sprint week period in Gantt Chart, modify the bar style of "Group by Summary" with Sprint Start and Sprint Finish (in From and To columns) and also select color or pattern as per your preference.
I hope this helps you.
