Retrieve the original Project end-date

Good day!

When creating a new project, I can choose the Project End date. Now, it's not uncommon that this date changes along the line. For instance, this change when one of the timelines changes in the Gantt-view.

I was wondering if the end-date that was originally set and saved in the project, can be retreived somewhere so we can take it into account in a report? So we can report on the difference between the origin value and the most recent value?

Thanks in advance!

  • mhemolenaar,

Yes, Project has always had a feature that preserves the original or interim snapshots of the plan and its called a baseline.

When a plan is first developed but just before starting execution, go to, Project > Schedule Group > Set Baseline. Project will capture several fields (Start, Finish, Cost, etc.) and store those in a set of Baseline fields. Those saved fields are then used as comparison between the original plan and the current schedule. They also form the basis for earned values metrics.

    Hope this helps.
