Remove Group from Project
Hi,
Is there a way to remove Project (Project for the web) from a currently linked Group?
I can only find a way to remove individuals from group, but cannot move the project out to share to a different group.
Thank you,
Hello mylogi88 ,
Unfortunately there isn't a way to remove the Group once linked to a project. If you want to link this project to another group, one option will be to use the Copy Project feature:
That will create a copy of the current project, with the newly created project, you can link that to the correct group. Then delete the original project if needed?

mylogi88 - It's possible to remove but has it limits depending upon whether the project was created in the default environment or in a named instance using the Project Accelerator.
- Project Accelerator - Open the project, go to Summary form and remove the group from the Owner field then click Save. This works form both M365 and Teams groups. After removal everyone loses access to the project until you create/reassign another group and you'll have to manually add the users back to the new group. Currently you can't assign a group directly to the Owner field, only Users. You have to go to Task Grid then Group Members and create or reassign a group.
- Default environment - If it's an M365 group, not a Teams group, you can delete it, but ensure you understand the impact if the group is used elsewhere.
Technically you can delete a Teams groups, but I wouldn't recommend it as you will lose access to the Team.

RodFromm Could you please add screen dump as I can't find project summary and owner you mentioned. Thank you.

In our testing after removing the group from the Owner field it can take up to 2 hours before you can create/assign another group to the project. You must create/assign the group in the Task Grid Group Member area as the Owner field only allows you to assign users and not groups.

Unfortunately, copy project will lose all comment thread, which is the best feature of Project in Teams. It is therefore not possible to reassociate a project with a new group and get connected to a new Team. One would forever stuck in the Teams/Group one has picked in the beginning. A poor design. - mylogi88Copper Contributor
Paul_Matherthanks, that works!
btw, is there a place to request for features for the Project for the web?
I see the roadmap site for what they are releasing next and currently working on, but not sure where to find other customer feedback.
Hello mylogi88 ,
That's great, would you mind marking the response as the answer so it can help others too.
