Linking a project to a porfolio
We have five project portfolios consisting of 7-25 sub-projects. Recently, we added a project online to our desktop 2019 version to allow project managers access to their project files. In the past, if we updated a single project, its respective portfolio would automatically be updated. Since we started using Project Online, we get errors when we update projects. Does the online project interfere with the desktop version when working with project portfolios?
Thanks.

When you use the term portfolio, I assume you mean master projects. If this is the case, you will need to delete the master projects and then recreate each of them in Project Online from a new enterprise project file. I am assuming that the subprojects are all stored in Project Online as well. Hope this helps.

Also, using master projects to simulate portfolios is a really bad way to handle this need in Project Online. It would be far better if your Project Online app admin created a custom enterprise Lookup Table with the names of your organization's portfolios, and then created a custom enterprise field linked to that lookup table. Each PM could then open and check out his/her enterprise projects, display the Project Information dialog, and then select the portfolio to which their projects belong. Also, your app admin could create a custom Project Center view that groups projects according to their portfolio value. Hope this helps. - MolalengeBrass ContributorThanks Dale.
