Correct resource allocation counting for person with partial workload
Hi,
if a resource (person) has an overall 75% workload, how can I get MS Project to calculate resource usage % from 75% workload and not from 100%?
E.g., Resource max unit = 75%. But if some task is assigned 85%, it should be calculated from 75%. Unfortunately, the Resource Usage will show % as 113%, which is incorrect.
Any tips on how to solve this? I need to show the actual % Allocation and Overallocation for this person.
Br,
I.P.

Where exactly are you seeing 113%? In this example, the resource Max Units is set at 75%. That resource is then assigned at 85% which of course produces an overallocation but the assignment units and the peak units are at 85%.

What you are looking at is the % allocation and that is simply 85%/75% = 113%. I believe what you want to see is the % overallocation which is the overallocated work divided by the available work. In your example that will be 16.8h / 126h = 13.3%.
Unfortunately that value is not an available metric in Project. And to get that value as timescaled data, Project data must be exported to Excel to calculate and display the value per time period.
If % overallocation is not what you are seeking, then please explain in more detail.
