REQUEST - Be able to Paste images into Notes and Comments field!
This is must! Tools like Trello already have this and this actually is stepback for some people wanting to migrate. They see that they can't paste images, they go to Trello.
Spoiler
ANOTHER THING! Would be very nice/handy also if we could edit the comments after submit it.

It seems the links to upvote no longer work - or at least for me. Has this moved?
Thanks

Yeah, looks like MS removed it. I don't understand that -- they generally leave requests up, even ones they don't plan to do, so not sure what to make of that.
Fortunately, there's a new version that had already gained enough votes to be on p. 2 by the time I saw it: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/6becaa63-e3f3-ee11-a73d-6045bd841c15

- GraniteStateColinSteel Contributor
For everyone who is looking for this, there is a request for this feature on the Planner Feedback page. It's currently at the bottom of page 2 (so not terribly far behind the top requests), but with a few more votes, it could easily climb to page 1 and be harder for them to ignore.

Posted more than 4 years ago and Microsoft is still not able to implement such a small change which would make life for most of the users much easier. Poor service Microsoft!!!

Totally need to agree to this - it is just such a poor user experience compared to trello. It can't be that much of an effort to have the possibility to edit text and copy paste images out of the snipet tool - by the way also a MS product 🙂
- CarlHerrmannCopper ContributorDefinitely a requirement for a proper Kanban solution
- 00thomsonCopper ContributorI can't believe there is no progress in four years... That spoils my motivation in our current migration to Office 365. (Same as missing @mentions in OneNote)
- GraniteStateColinSteel Contributor
00thomson, we may be getting closer to MS doing this. We're halfway up the second page of hottest feature requests to MS. Just 21 more votes (7 less than a few weeks ago even as other requests also received up-votes) to reach page 1 of their requests.
If this still matters to you, and you've not already voted, please consider voting for it and getting your colleagues to vote for it here: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/cd2c8f5e-5421-ee11-a81d-0022484cae1d
There is no guarantee that just because it reaches page 1 they'll address it, but it significantly increases the likelihood, especially if our comments make it clear how and why we need it. Probably helps to keep them constructive and actionable too.

00thomson we migrated to the new "To Do" tool a couple years ago, however, it has the exact same issue. You still can't paste images or snippets into the Add note field.
- GraniteStateColinSteel ContributorIt seems like Microsoft really screwed up the architecture of this, using a text field instead of a field that can hold images and other non-text formatting and objects. I believe they carried this design over from the text fields associated with Tasks in the very powerful Microsoft Project. But where that was acceptable in Project due to its timeline and % complete focus, it's completely broken in a Planner app, which is designed from the start to work like a Scrum or Kanban Board.
This is why their first step to addressing this was to add the ability to include formatting (Bold, Italic, etc.) into the main description field, BUT they still haven't made any updates to the Comments fields. I think they must still be years away from actually fixing this critical deficiency compared with competing solutions like Asana, Trello, Jira, and every other Scrum or Kanban style project management system on the market.
- srlommeCopper ContributorGet this done already!!!
- jbriere87Brass ContributorThis is still needed and relevant 3 years later. I don't see any movement, but it's as needed as ever. Anyone have a workaround to this?

jbriere87 we had to switch to Notion and Miro

You're not going to like it because you're probably doing this anyway. I have just got used to throwing a message to relevant person "as referenced in XYC card" and then just pasting the message into chat.
- ThomasFensterseiferCopper ContributorWhy this take so long to Microsoft make this?
it would help a lot in user interactions on planner.- GraniteStateColinSteel Contributor
Just got an update from Microsoft on this yesterday: "We expect to begin rolling out the new rich text task notes field in mid-June (previously late March) and we expect to complete the rollout by late August 2023 (previously late July)."
It still won't include pasting images, but the data structure change described below is a necessary prerequisite to enabling images in the notes.
The report also says (much of this is the same as prior reports):
To support this capability, we are introducing a new rich text enabled task notes field in the Planner Microsoft Graph API. This will result in two task notes fields in our API – the new “rich text task notes field” and the existing “plain text task notes field.” When this feature launches, Planner for the Web and for Teams (Tasks app) will support rich text in task notes. Other Planner experiences in iOS, Android, SharePoint, and Power Automate will only support plain text task notes, but we plan to update these apps to support rich text at a later date.
When this feature update is deployed, all existing task notes content will be preserved in the new rich text enabled task notes field, so users will be able to continue viewing and editing notes without interruption.
We will maintain compatibility between the rich text task notes field and plain text task notes field by ensuring both fields’ contents stay in sync.
If a user edits the rich text task notes field, all content is synced to the plain text task notes field automatically. Any rich content is converted to plain text and synced to the plain text task notes field.
If a user edits the plain text task notes field via the Microsoft Graph API or via a client which only supports the plain text field, the contents in the plain text task notes field is synced to the rich text task notes field without modification. Therefore edits to the plain text task notes field will result in the removal of any pre-existing rich text, or text formatting in the rich text notes field.

GraniteStateColin I have been using the Rich text in the task description in Planner for several weeks now, but still missing from comments. And, as expected, there is still no way to paste images from the clipboard. So, maybe this is 10% progress. Better than nothing, but far from where we need to be.
