Windows 11 Pro Kiosk mode problems
We have a customer with 40 Windows kiosks that use Edge to access a single website. They will all be Windows 11 Pro 25H2 shortly, well maybe, see below. The problem is when set setup assigned access with a kiosk account no matter how much we clean up the bloat, disable unneeded services, strip out all the startup tasks in the registry, remove all the provisioned bloatware, disable all the consumer app update services we still get this:
This happens on 11 Pro 22H2 and continues through 25H2. It does not happen on 21H2. I have to find a way to fix this OR they've told us to take them to Ubuntu and if they go to Ubuntu. How can we hunt this down? There are no events in the Event Viewer under Assigned Access, literally 0 on any of the kiosks. We've created extensive scripts that purge appx apps, stop all the consumer update services, even remove the Intel Management Engines that we don't care about on the kiosks, but none of that stops this message. I just can't understand how MS can put out an OS that supports kiosk mode and for years this issue happens. In kiosk mode every other setting should be overridden, nothing else should be allowed to run for any reason other than the assigned access application, in this case Edge. Honestly, it was easier back in the Win7 days when you replaced the shell and created a couple hundred GP entries to lock down the system into a kiosk-mode like system. Any ideas?
