unable to add gmail account to outlook 365

Getting an error message: "We couldn't create the Outlook data file. Makes sure the disk you're saving to isn't full or write-protected and that the file isn't being used."

- Tried uninstalling and reinstalling office 365.

- Windows 11

Outlook has no problem adding another non-Gmail account.

Tried adding another Gmail account: again, error message: "We couln't connect to the incoming (IMAP) server using the specified encryption method. Please check the incoming (IMAP) server encryption method and try again."

- Encryption method is SSL/TLS

Help would be greatly appreciated.
