OWA spell checks part of the word
Outlook on the Web uses the Microsoft Editor for this that is integrated in Outlook on the Web.
What probably happened in this case is that there is some kind of hidden (HTML) formatting involved that is applied mid-word. It is therefore recognized as separate word. For instance;
spe<span>cifi</span>c
Do you have a repro for the issue?
I've tried to in different ways, but it worked as expected for me.
I have started having this issue constantly. It happens with all kinds of words. Sometimes it will carve out just one letter- I typed out an email this afternoon including the word "friendliest". Outlook refused to acknowledge that the f existed, and kept telling me that riendliest isn't a word, and I needed to add an f. Other times, like the OP, it carves an incorrect word out of the middle of a real word.
It's gotten to the point where spellcheck has become virtually useless, which is a real problem when you have an assistant who never learned to write without having the computer tell her which words are or aren't written correctly!
