outlook.com email account appears as "outlook_[long series of letters and numbers]@outlook.com

Solution isn't working.

Have been struggling with this issue for years and it's preventing me from using outlook.com email as my primary service...

The workaround doesn't work as can be seen from this screengrab of my account.  My outlook.com email address is set as my primary alias as required according to the tech note, but still the funky email address and undeliverable email when people reply to me.

So frustrating...

    Hi Doug_Rousso ,

I'm sure you tried this, but I would like to confirm.

After you set new Primary address, have you tried to login using your primary address? Also, have you tried adding completely different alias username@outlook.com or username@live.com and login with those once they are set as Primary?

I sure have, and the screenshot is what I see after making the alias the primary and logging in using that primary.

I have not created an @live.com alias because I'm not offered that choice when creating alias, only outlook.com domain is offered to me on the create alias dialogs.

        Hi Doug_Rousso ,

that is what I thought. If you have time and want, it would be good to see what would happen if you set new alias under outlook.com or live.

And while adding new primary address, delete the old one with the numbers if you see it.
