Outlook 365 shared calendars are slow to load

It was brought to my attention that a few co workers is having an issue with calendars loading very slow.  They say that is can take up to 3 minutes to load a calendar.  I am wondering if the amount of things in a calendar would affect the load time.  Or is there something else I can try to help speed up the load times?
