New Outlook

Hi  I've tried signing into the new Outlook and it opens ok but it hasn't got all my folders and contents from the 'old' Outlook.  Have I missed something or done something wrong.

Any help would be great in 'idiot proof' language please!!

  • I'm going to guess that your old folders and contents are in a PST file, you can add those in the New Outlook and go to the "gear" icon in the upper right corner. Then click on "General" and then "Outlook Data Files". You can add your PST in that area, it will open up and then you can view the data in New Outlook.

Hi Angela 🙂, you haven’t done anything wrong. The new Outlook sometimes takes a while to sync all the folders from the old version. A quick fix you can try is signing out and back in, or checking if your account is added as an Exchange/Outlook account instead of POP/IMAP. That usually makes all folders appear. If it still doesn’t show up, go into Settings → Accounts → Sync settings and make sure everything is turned on. Let us know if it helps!

The new Outlook may not automatically show all folders from your old Outlook. Check that your email account is fully synced and that the folder list is expanded. If using an Exchange/Office 365 account, go to Settings → Sync email/folders and ensure all folders are selected. PST/IMAP data stored locally in the old Outlook won’t appear automatically—you’d need to import it manually via File → Open & Export → Import/Export.
