How do completely disable preview in Outlook
Been trying to find a solution to this with no luck as yet.
When I receive an attachment such as a PDF file, JPG, etc., clicking the file opens it as a preview in Outlook. Similarly, when I click on the down or menu arrow to see options for opening, preview is the first option.
How do I set it so that when I click on the file it opens in the default app for my system? Also, can I remove preview from the options in the dropdown?
I'm running Windows 11 build 26200.8246 and new Outlook version 1.2026.420.300.
As for the attachment preview in Microsoft Outlook (new Outlook), there is no complete disabling option, built-in by design. So, the only way is to right click and select either open or save. There is not yet a way to ensure that applications that are already installed default to opening immediately.

Thank you.
Every time I use new Outlook I think that it never was actually beta tested. It is dramatically worse than old Outlook.
You're doing it now ;-)
Although stable and supported, New Outlook is still very much under active development and nowhere near where it needs to be feature wise when compared to Classic Outlook. This is also why Classic Outlook is still around until at least the end of 2029.You can find which major features have recently been released, are currently rolling out, and which are in development for the next 2 - 4 months on this Roadmap. It's constantly being updated and there is much more to come!
