"Format picture" has disappeared from Outlook Mac

I use the Outlook app on 3 different MacBooks. Two have recently auto-updated Outlook to version 16.102.2, and I've lost the ability to format a picture in the body of an email. I use lots of screenshots in emails, and always put a border around them to clearly differentiate them from the body text. Right-click the image and select Format Picture from the menu.

I can still do it in the third MacBook which is running Outlook version 16.84.2.

I don't know if the latest update is meant to be an improvement, but I'm not happy about it! I'll turn off automate updates for the third MacBook. Not sure if I can revert the other two to version 16.84.2 - does anybody know if this is possible.

Also wonder if users of the Windows app have experienced the same loss of the Format Picture feature?

Have just dicsovered this too!!!! Microsoft WTAF??!?!?!?

    Bring back 'Format Picture'!!!!

  • Microsoft seems to have changed or removed some of the image formatting features in the new Outlook interface, and several users have reported the same issue in their forums. There’s no official fix or announcement yet, but it looks like it’s part of the broader UI overhaul Microsoft is rolling out. If you still have a Mac running version 16.84.2, it makes sense to keep automatic updates turned off for now so you can keep using the feature. Unfortunately, rolling back to an older version isn’t officially supported, but some users have managed it by reinstalling from older Office packages. As a temporary workaround, you can add borders or edit screenshots using another app before inserting them into Outlook.

Yep, the same thing has happened with my Mac Outlook, extremely frustrating as I use the 'Format Picture' and 'Size and Position' features extensively with proofing images for marketing comms, for comment and sign-off. Searched online for a solution and there doesn't appear to be one... nightmare. And no, you can't revert to a previous version of Outlook... wished I hadn't had auto updates on too.

Same thing has happened with my Mac Outlook, very frustrating as I used the Format Picture and the Size and Position regularly in my role communicating marketing images to colleagues for comment and sign-off... from what I can find out online, this is something you can't revert or fix!
