Difficulty in activation my Outlook classic (2013)
Hi,
Earlier this year I bought Office 2024 family . That purchase appears in my account details. I installed Outlook classic on my old PC with the bought licence. Everything was perfect.
I have just switched from my really old PC (running Win 10) to a new PC. On my new PC, I managed to install Outlook classic. Inside my new Outlook classic I use my usual account pie****_****@videotron.ca.
Everything works well but it warns me that it cannot activate Office with my Microsoft pna*****@outlook.com account and suggests I use another account.
When I click on 'Try Another Account', it does nothing but re-displays the same error message. It loops indefinitely
I looked up the accounts and actually it showed my two addresses, the @outlook.com and the @videotron.ca. I deleted the @outlook.com address using Account parameters, thinking this may help as there would be no ambiguity.
It also tells me I have to correct this by 9/20.....
The new PC runs Win 11 Family, Version 23h2
Installed software:
- Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Microsoft Outlook 2016 fr-ca
- Microsoft Office Family fr-fr
I am new to this and find it quite confusing
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP !
Pierre

I think I landed in a desert area or an isolated island in the middle of the Pacific.
I have not solved my problem. Except that I found a possible path to salvation: transferring my Office licence from my personal account to my email address removed for privacy reasons account. This amounts to the symmetric image of the solution I first thought of, i.e. changing my account from email address removed for privacy reasons to my personal account.
Well, both did not work.
I have looked at mailspring. Not convinced of its solidity. Now I am looking at Mailbird. Like it so far. Hoping I can keep the free version.

Hey Pierre!
Try signing out of Office, removing any linked Microsoft accounts in settings, then sign back in with the correct @videotron.ca account. This should fix the activation issue.
Good luck!

Hi Roger,
I should have mentioned that the Classic Office 2024 apps work fine.
Frankly, given that Office works but Outlook does not, and given that I have found a decent alternative to Outlook. I am scared that if I sign out of Office, not only it may not solve my Outlook issue but it may lock me out of Office apps.
I spent a week trying different solutions, I did remove my @outlook.com from the settings, and I may have signed out and re signed in, but the thought of re-opening the issue is not appealing to me.
So I dont think I will even try it until, for some reason, I am forced to sign out of Office.
Thanks anyway.
P.

Hi Roger
Just noted your reply. I did not get (or discarded the notification message? Sorry.
I did remove the Microsoft account from settings. But I did not sign out of Office.
Will retry at a calmer moment :-)
Thanks a lot
Pierre

A precision.

I should have added: 'This did not work'
