Deleted folders

Hello,

I have had an older and a new email account registered in outlook.

Since the old account wasn’t connected to a server anymore, Outlook showed always some download errors.

I have therefore decided to remove that account from Outlook.

The problem is that I have apparently been using some folders related to that account for emails from the other and removing it made disappear, without significant warnings, all my emails.

What can I do to get them back?

…and there don’t seem to be any folders or files in Outlook from where to recover something, like described on some pages on the internet.

I have tried it again, but the search returns nothing.

But shouldn’t there be something, at least for the other account that is still active?

    Hello Hornblower,

    thank you for your response.

At least that problem has a technical name 😊…

There don’t even seem to exist something that could be recovered (ost, pst or something like that).

That's strange. Removing an email account from Classic Outlook doesn't normally delete the associated OST file. The default location for these files is usually:

      %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook

Open a Windows Explorer and paste that into the Address bar.

Or use Windows Explorer Search for anything with a .pst or .ost file extension.

  • What you have run into is called a "Classic Outlook Orphaned OST".

When you removed the email account from Classic Outlook it broke the association with the OST file that  Outlook uses to store local data. These folders are usually marked "This Computer Only".  Your recovery options are limited. Microsoft does not offer any tools for accessing Orphaned OST.

All I can suggest is that you ask your favorite AI something like this and see if any of the solutions apply in your case.
