Adding social media links to contacts

Hi. First post here. Can't find much searching for info on this. I'd love to be able to have fields in my contact records where I could put in people's social media links. It would be nice to click on a social media icon and go to their page (like you can if I put my links into my email signature). So in every one of my contacts, I could enter in links for that person. Or it could find them automatically. It seems that this was the idea behind the social connector which went away? Seems this would be an extremely common thing to want to do, am I missing some simple function or procedure for accomplishing this?
