Syncing Sharepoint files using OneDrive on Windos Server 2019

Sounds like a permission issue on Sharepoint. Permission inheritance isn't happening from the parent to a child somewhere. Do you have your external users connected to the site or just formed as a group? It's easy to make the mistake of not having child inheritance turned on when making a new group or during sharing.
- Also when the external users connect to SharePoint are they using the Add a Shortcut to OneDrive button or the Sync button? Don't use Sync it will cause problems. Adding a shortcut will put a linked folder into the external users OneDrive. It's just a link straight to SharePoint that takes up no space on the users OneDrive. They simply open that folder in file explorer and add files.
