Sharing one drive files directly from outlook
- Jan 29, 2025
Unfortunately, Outlook doesn't fully integrate with OneDrive files on your device. You'll have to use the 'browse web locations' functionality if you want to make sure the file is shared directly.
One alternative is to drag the local file to attach it, then click on it and select the Upload option from the menu. Another one is to select the file in Explorer > right-click > share > create a sharing link > paste the link in Outlook. Both are far from ideal, but the best you can get currently.
You can refer to the official documentation on this for more details: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-pictures-or-attach-files-to-emails-in-outlook-bdfafef5-792a-42b1-9a7b-84512d7de7fc

Thanks for confirming this! An unfortunate solution albeit an accurate one.
