Onedrive personal vault problems
I'm having problems with opening my personal vault. The cloud icon at the bottom right of my screen has a red X and all I get is an error saying my personal vault isn't updated. I can't access any of the settings for OneDrive or Personal Vault. I downloaded an update, but when I tried to install it I got an error message saying I was using a newer version and must delete it before continuing. What do I need to do to get my OneDrive and/or Personal Vault working again?

The red X indicates a synchronization problem, but it does not establish that your Personal Vault files have disappeared. First sign in to your personal OneDrive through a browser and check whether the vault unlocks there. Preserve any local files that have not synchronized before changing the desktop setup. If browser access works, restart OneDrive, then consider Microsoft's reset procedure. Press Windows+R and run %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset. If Windows cannot find that executable, use the installed OneDrive location specified in Microsoft's instructions. Start OneDrive again afterwards. Resetting does not delete your files, but it resets sync connections and triggers synchronization again. Review your previously selected sync folders afterwards. The installer warning means you should not force an older package over the newer installation. If the vault also fails in the browser, record that error separately and contact Microsoft support; reinstalling the desktop client would not establish the cause of that failure.
