OneDrive for Mac: Free Up Space --> File Doesn't Exist

Using OneDrive on Mac, I have an issue when I go to "Free Up Space" on a file or multiple files in Finder, (right click on the file and select Free Up Space {with OneDrive logo next to it} from the Quick Actions menu -immediately another finder window pops up that says "The file doesn't exist."

And nothing happens, it does not upload to the cloud and there is no icon in Finder to indicate it needs to be downloaded, so it's still on my local drive.  However, I am certain the file does exist, because when I go to my cloud OneDrive in the browser I can see the exist list of all files that I see in finder (i.e. syncing is working)

That said, all other OneDrive functions seems to work: syncing of files, saving to cloud and local, downloading from cloud, etc.  I also have files that synced, but didn't download in the same finder folder, which have the icon indicating they are on cloud and require downloading.

I am not sure how to get some of these files offloaded locally.  I've searched online and forums, and have been unable to find anyone asking the same question/having the same issue...Anyone else experiencing this and have found a solution or work around?
