OneDrive for Business - resize for all users at bulk

If you set a lower global storage quota (e.g., 100 GB) in the OneDrive admin center, users with more than 100 GB will be affected, but:

• Their data is not deleted immediately.
• They lose the ability to upload or create new content.
• Their OneDrive becomes effectively read-only (they can view/download, but not modify or add files).
• They will see storage exceeded warnings in their OneDrive portal.

Microsoft’s Official Behavior:

“If a user exceeds the storage quota that you assign, their OneDrive will become read-only. The user won't be able to add new files, but they can view or download their existing content.”

If you're trying to reduce the default quota without disrupting heavy users, do this:

Set a new default quota (e.g., 100 GB) in the OneDrive Admin Center.

This only affects users who haven't had a custom quota set.

For power users (those who already use >100 GB), set their quotas manually to a higher value
