One Drive storage

I have recently subscribed to the additional 1TB storage so that I can backup my photos after upgrading my mobile. I have transferred my photos off my old device onto my laptop & saved these on an external hard drive. I have then dragged & dropped some folders onto my OneDrive. I have currently used 92.5GB of storage. I tried to drag some further folders across put an error message saying I did not have the storage allowance on my OneDrive personal. How is that possible when I've only used 92.5GB??

It's indeed puzzling that you're receiving an error message about insufficient storage on your OneDrive when you've only used 92.5GB out of the 1TB of storage that you subscribed to. Here are some steps you can take to investigate and potentially resolve this issue:

    1. Check Subscription Status:
      • First, confirm that your OneDrive subscription is active and that you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account.
    2. Review Your OneDrive Storage:
      • Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with your Microsoft account.
      • Click on "Storage" in the left-hand menu to see a breakdown of your storage usage. Check if there are any unexpected files or folders taking up space.
    3. Check Recycle Bin:
      • Sometimes, files in the Recycle Bin count toward your storage quota. Empty your OneDrive Recycle Bin to ensure that deleted files are not contributing to the storage limit.
    4. Verify File Sizes:
      • Confirm that the files and folders you're trying to upload do not exceed your remaining storage capacity. You can right-click on the folder and check its properties to see the total size.
    5. Upload Limits:
      • Check if you're exceeding any upload limits. OneDrive may have limitations on the number of files or total upload size in a single operation.
    6. Sync Issues:
      • If you're using the OneDrive desktop application, there may be sync issues causing discrepancies in storage usage. Try pausing and resuming the sync, or resetting the OneDrive sync if necessary.
    7. Check for Third-Party Applications:
      • If you have third-party applications or services connected to your OneDrive account, they may be contributing to your storage usage. Review and disconnect any unnecessary apps or services.
    8. Contact OneDrive Support:
      • If you've gone through these steps and the issue persists, consider reaching out to OneDrive support for assistance. They can investigate your account and storage usage more thoroughly.
    9. Reinstall OneDrive (if applicable):
      • If you're using the OneDrive desktop application, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling it. This can help resolve any sync or storage reporting issues.
    10. Monitor Storage Usage:
      • Keep an eye on your storage usage over time to see if it increases unexpectedly. This can help identify the source of the issue.

It's essential to rule out any temporary glitches or issues with sync before contacting support. If you're confident that you should have ample storage space available, reaching out to OneDrive support is the best course of action for a more in-depth investigation into your account. They should be able to provide specific guidance based on your account's status.
