My experience with the new OneDrive Team Site Sync
I have the 'Share With' option as expected in Windows Explorer. Using the new sync client. Screen shot below:
There is another bug that is causing all sorts of problems and focuses around Excel and being able to edit workbooks. The error seen is "We're having trouble connecting to the server"
This is pretty easy to replicate and the issue appears on most PCs now.
- Navigate to the OneDrive folder on the PC
- Open a Excel spreadsheet
- At the top of the spreadsheet there is a yellow banner to enable editing on the workbook
- Clicking the "Edit workbook" button causes the following error to appear: "We're having trouble connecting to the server. If this keeps happening, contact your help desk"
- From Excel, click on "File" -> "Info"
- Click on "Open File Location"
- The URL listed is incorrect. Althought he majority of the URL is rigth there appears to be an additional level added to it, this level is called "Documents" for example.
The URL provided when clicking "Open File Location" https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/it/Document-Library/Documents/Folder1
The correct URL for the file is: https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/it/Document-Library/Folder1
The OneDrive client appears to be adding "Documents" for some reason.
I have found a workaround for the issue, disabling "Use Office 2016 to sync Office files I open" within the OneDrive client stops this error happening. However this causes more issues as the files appear as local files to Excel. This means that it is now possible for two users to open and edit the same excel file as the same time, normally the second user to open the file would see the "this file is locked for editing...." message.
I do have a called logged with MS but there is no update on when the issue might be fixed only that they have seen the issue from other customers. It would be good if MS could at least give some ball park dates when issues might be solved.

Rob-CTL I have one VM running Win 10 which I use for a customer to test the OneDrive issues we have. I now see Office is updated to version 1611 (Build 7571.2042) and now the Excel error when clicking on Edit Workbood "We`re having trouble connecting to the server" is gone.
But the other issues we have, are still there.
I created an second VM, which is on a older Office Version (1610) and this one is still having this issue with Excel.

That is an Office Insider version, isn't it?

PKlapwijk thanks for the update, that's interesting information, it looks like my tenant hasn't got the Office update yet but I'll be sure to update as soon as it does.
Have you noticed an issue with Word also? with the office 2016 sync enabled documents sometimes don't save back to the server.

My customer reports sync issues; sometimes they get a message there is an updated version on the server, but when they choose to merge that will almost always fail.
And co-authoring does not work. It seems Office does not recognize the files are saved in the cloud. Or they get a message the file must first be saved to the cloud (but it is synced from the cloud!) or a message We`re still uploading your file.
I`m waiting on a call today from a SharePoint engineer to who my case was escaleted, but have not heard anything from hear.
Keep you posted.

I have these issues at a customer and on my laptop as well. When I try to edit an Excel workbook it gives me an error.
But also when working on a Word doc I see issues; as an example when cannot work in a Word doc at the same time.
I have also opened an ticket at Microsoft, the only reponse on this for the last week was the escalation team ise working on it.- AKIMFNov 25, 2016Iron Contributor
Although this problem is still reoccuring afterwards, disabling / enabling the "let office 2016 sync your files"-option fixes it temporarily.

AKIMF Thanks for your reply.
I unmarked "Use Office 2016 to sync Office files that I open". I can now open an Excel file without the error message, but when I click share it shows me "To collaborate with others, please save a copy of your file to an online location". I also see this message with Word files, so co-authoring is not possible with unmarked this setting. and that is an option the customer wants to use.

Good to hear I'm not the only one. Like you I've got calls open with the OneDrive team and with other areas of Microsoft. At the moment they have acknowledged it as a bug but no timescales for a fix. I'll post back here when I get some more information.

I first thought it was an issues on the SP library, because we have used this at an new customer who was migrated from Google. So I opened a ticket at MS and started troubleshooting with an engineer.
After a few days I figured out myself it is an issue with the preview client and when sharing my conclusion about the issues with the ODFB client with the engineer she was didn`t know about with the client.
I discribed some of the issues we have with this client on www.inthecloud247.com because I couldn`t find anything about the issues we see on the internet. So I`m glad to read we are not the only customer who is having these issues.I just received a last update my ticket is escalated to the escaltion team. Hope their will be a fix in a short time.
