Files [READ ONLY] but no indication they are, so cannot save changes
We constantly get this issue here. SUPER frustrating. The good news is the Fast Ring Excel version largely eliminates this. The bad news is, it is test only and has other bugs, so we don't dare roll it out wide.
To fix this:
you must go to the onedrive settings > office tab
uncheck the collaboration option. The read only/save problems dissapear.

Hmmm. thanks. That also disables the ability to share files from inside the Office app. Not ideal in the least.

I have also seen this cropping up with my users and had to use this as a "temp" fix. Hopefully MS will fix this soon!
