Can we 'turn off' new OneDrive shortcut naming convention due to causing long filename backup fail
OneDrive does not allow you to customise the default naming format for shortcuts. The system applies a predefined structure that usually includes the folder name along with its source, such as a SharePoint site or the owner’s name. You can rename shortcuts manually after they are created, but there is no option to set an automatic default format.
Possibly an automation / script of some sort to manually change it will be the best of your bad options

Yes, I think that the only obvious solution is for us to change our 'Document Library' names within SharePoint (which we can do). It will introduce consistency issues into our business and undo 'Power Automate' fixes already implemented to overcome previous (2023) OneDrive naming convention issues; which itself was a change from the 2021 convention.
Overall this seems the easiest until we can get all of our other software accepting the 'long' filename format. It will certainly be nice when SharePoint, Onedrive, Flows, etc. finally stop breaking things which worked previously.
