Will a partial upgrade retain the "with Teams" rights?

[edited]

What will happen when doing a partial upgrade from O365 E3 --> M365 E3?

The FAQ shows that when upgrading from eg. O365 E3 --> M365 E3, the customer can retain their 'with Teams' rights.

But how would that work with a partial upgrade for example?

Partial upgrades in NCE create a new subscription line. Would it still be possible to do a partial upgrade to an higher SKU and still retain the 'with Teams' rights?

Cheers,

Martijn

    If I understand your question, queston 52 on the FAQ you're referencing answers that by stating that ... after migrating their existing subscription to NCE, they can then add seats, renew, and upgrade using transitions on those subscriptions.

      This does not answer my question unfortunately. Point 52 refers to migrating TPoR. The statement you added is mentioned in point 56 in FAQ; this refers to migrating from Legacy to NCE. Both are not my question.

      My question relates to a customer in NCE having O365 E3. They want to do a partial upgrade to M365 E3 (half the licenses will be upgrade, the other half will keep O365 E3).
      When doing a partial upgrade from O365 E3 (with Teams) --> M365 E3. Will the new M365 E3 subscription include Teams or not?

      Point 51 states that upgraded licenses will keep their 'with Teams' rights (grand fathered). But it doesn't state how it will work with a partial upgrade. Doing a partial upgrade will create a new subscription line with new terms and conditions. So how will this work and how will the partial upgrade subscription retain their 'with Teams' rights?

      Cheers,
      Martijn

      I removed your snapshot because it's taken from a "MICROSOFT CONFIDENTIAL – PARTNER ONLY" document, and inquirer's who are not Microsoft partners have access to the Partner communities.
