Your admin has updated your settings. Some of your pinned apps may have moved.
We are getting the message - "Your admin has updated your settings. Some of your pinned apps may have moved." for the pinned apps. The apps that were pinned earlier seems to dissapear after some time. We have confirmed that we have allowed user pinning in Teams Apps setup policies.

Prabinesh Microsoft notified us this should be resolved for education, I have added app to side bar and so far not removed.

This is the information that I got in our support ticket:
This is just to provide you with an update on the Pinned Apps removed . I have nothing new to report and there has not been any activity towards implementing it. I feel that more traction on this will come later this month.
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Support and I wish you a good day.

Talked to our MS Rep last week and the recommendation is that institutions need to submit ticket to Microsoft regarding the issue. MS is aware but need traction to make it a priority. Currently as already mentioned the priority is on stability and more features.

It's important to Vote and make this issue more visible to Microsoft, go on Microsoft Uservoice :

This was the response I received back in February from M/Soft which indicated that they did not see this as a bug but instead by design (yeah...). This looks to have potentially changed, though clearly still an issue affecting a large volume of tenancies.
Has anyone submitted a Design Change Request? If so do you have a reference that we can link to?
"Following on from the information passed on by [snip], I can confirm that the issues you are seeing are by design. The Product Group that are the owners of the service and will only act depending on the votes via UserVoice already highlighted. The only other option we have is for you to raise a Design Change Request via the support team. This will need you to complete with [snip] a business impact statement and case for the change to take place. Although this is not ideal it is the only routes that we have for now. "

FYI:
We have the same issue. Educational licenses, and cannot pin apps. Getting the same error message, the pinned apps disappear after 15 min or so.

Prabinesh Is Microsoft even going to respond to this. Our rep said that MS is working hard to improve Teams to compete with Zoom but then they cannot get an Admin setting to work.
- DeletedApparently (from a Teams thread in MS Teams)
"Teams Services Deployments are blocked for any bug fixes unless it is a COVID-19 capacity related change."

Our entire organization including admins are experiencing this same annoying issue. We are a higher ed institution, however we do not use the "assignments" feature because we employ a different LMS. Assignments tab keeps popping up confusing our students/teachers/employees. All policies have been reviewed and are set correctly; yet this issue persists. Is there any information on this?
- Mark McCoyCopper Contributor
DaymrEducation tenants have the Assignments icon pinned to the left bar no matter what. Going to this area within the Teams admin portal shows this message at the top of the screen: "Because you have at least one Office 365 Education license, the Assignments app will be automatically included in each app setup policy". The Assignments app doesn't even show up in the list of available apps, but it is pinned no matter what.
If you have the "allow user pinning" option set so the user can pin an app, they pin one and then it gets removed a few minutes later. I think what is happening is that this hidden super-policy to make sure education tenants always see the Assignments app doesn't play nice and overrides that user pinning setting.
- DeletedThat is the information I got from the engineers

PrabineshAre you an education establishment?
If yes then Pinning apps isn't possible, I found it out last month from an engineer. It is being worked on and should be fixed this month apparently.

Thank you . We also have similar issue and we have an educational license.
Hope it get fixed by this month.

Deleted Yes, we have educational licenses. That is the explanation then. Thank you for clearing this up, at least for me!

Prabinesh We are also having similar issues. And it happens even when we don't log out...

Same problem here!
We have also allowed user pinning in Teams apps Setup policies.
Anyone that has found a solution yet?
- DeletedSame problem here? Anyone else having this issue?

I have a client experiencing this same issue.
I have opening up a case with microsoft and have begun looking into it with them. Based on what we find, i will update this thread.
I will say that I expect it to be something bigger than just a setting, the fact that multiple people have been having this issue in the last week all of the sudden seems to point to a back end issue, or a change in something that is perhaps not working right.
Regardless I will do my best to find the problem, and once we have follow up here to try to help everyone else out.Adam

Deleted mentioned this below as well....
Finally got an update from the SME's on our ticket, and were basically told, we know.... sorry. Right now a fix is on hold due to increased provisioning due to COVID-19.
"We have identified that this is a known issue on EDU tenants and a fix is already in development but due to the current provisioning concerns and issues that was detected with the sudden growth of Teams due to the COVID-19 incident the deployment has been halted."
I have asked our case to be added to the internal documentation so that we are informed when an update roles out, but for now looks like we are all in limbo.
