using an emoji allows user to delete the whole app's UI

there appears to be a bug that allows you to delete the entire app's UI, which then forces you to restart the app.
steps to reproduce:
- type a message and add an emoji at the end not with the emoji menu (win key + semicolon), but rather by typing out the character like 😄 (colon and uppercase "d").
- hit the "home" key to go to the beginning of the line.
- hit the "end" key to move back to the end.
- press ctrl+a to select all items in the window
- press backspace/delete to delete the entire UI
