Teams only cares about the primary smtp address, if you want to use secondary ones best "resolve" it against Outlook first.

that doesn't really work for external users trying to look for a contact to talk to on teams; they may be using Skype, Skype for Business or Teams and would expect to find the user with the external search through the search bar. **bleep**.
