Upgrade to "full Teams" for the next 6 months?

Hi everyone,

Though my company is using g-suite, we do have an Azure tenant and every single employee has Office 365 Business. By association, everyone has access to the complimentary "Teams Trial" - that no one has really used so fat.

Two questions:

  1. How is our current "Teams Trial" features different from what Microsoft is giving away during the COVID period (E1, I believe)?
  2. Assuming it's interesting, how can we upgrade people's access to Teams for the period, so we can try it out properyl?

Many thanks for anyone's help!

  • Hi,

The teams commercial trial license can be used up to 12months (starts with the first user who gets the license). It currently does not include an EXO mailbox.

The new 6months license is a full teams license (no limitations). You can request it only via an MS partner (the partner has to trigger the process for you)

StefanFried many thanks for the pointers.

We set up our Azure account ourselves, I don't expect we have an "MS Partner" associated to our account. How should we go about doing this - cold call someone from a partner directory somewhere?

Yes...cold call make sense if you don't have a partner or sales rep.

        Here a link with details...
        https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/e1-trial-license

        As well this statement:
"If you work for a business that isn’t currently licensed for Teams, we’ve got you covered with a free Office 365 E1 offer for six months. Contact your Microsoft partner or sales representative to get started today. (Note: the same offer is available in the Government Cloud, but not available in GCC High and the Department of Defense."
