jgrossrieder I've never had to deal with this issue myself so I can't say for sure whether this will work, but here are instructions from docs.microsoft.com to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/misc/become-the-admin?view=o365-worldwide of an unmanaged tenant. Worth a try.
AFAIK you need to contact Microsoft here and ask them to remove the tenant..if it’s your domain you can also prove you are the owner of it
